BANDS

Factory Minds

FACTORY MINDS is a social statement. “Factory Minds” refers to a narrow and one way track of thinking which the masses blindly follow. The band, FACTORY MINDS stands for individualism, questioning corrupt authority and takes a stance on social and political injustices of the present. In their songs, Factory Minds writes about issues of post-9/11 America, personal philosophy, and takes a swing at sarcastic pop. Factory Minds refuses to be dumped into one specific musical genre which is clearly reflected in their music. The group has played and continues to play a wide variety of shows ranging from Power Pop, Hardcore punk, Oi! and Reggae, which are all apparent as their influences.

In early 2008 Rob Van West III (guitar/vocals) founder and ex member of hardcore punk act Call To Arms along with Sergio (drums), decided to start a music project also inviting Brando (Guitar/Vocals) and Noah (Bass/Vocals) after the slowdown of their power-pop band, The Last Chordz. Factory Minds started as a side project that quickly shifted to a full time band after receiving a lot of attention at their practice spot which was at a well known San Jose party house that had a constant flow of people and crazy times. It was at this house where they put out their first self-recorded demo with songs such as “Factory Minds”, “Better Days” and “Drunk Tank”.

In the Summer of 2009 Rob decided to leave the band to pursue a career overseas. Brando, Sergio and Noah felt that it was necessary to continue and without hesitation recruited Joel (guitar/vocals), whom Sergio had been playing in other bands with for almost 10 years. Joel adapted quickly and picked up where Rob had left off without changing their style and added a bit of a harder edge to their live performance. In the same summer Factory Minds was in the middle of recording their first album, “AMERICA’S NOT AT WAR” to be released on THE DOWNTOWN ACADEMY records. Joel helped finish the album with all 5 members featured on it musically and vocally. Factory Minds continues to play shows and are constantly writing music.

Whiskey Rebels

Whiskey Rebels are a five piece punk band coming straight out of Sacramento California. Signed to GMM on the strength of their first demo, they currently have two releases available on GMM. Both CDs showcase a style of street punk that is both agressive and melodic, with plenty of sing along hooks and fist pumping anthems and some old-school hardcore mixed in for good measure.

Pressure Point

From the streets of Sacramento Ca. Pressure Point have been leading the charge of street punk in their city for nearly twelve years. Pressure Point combine a variety of styles and diverse influences to create music that reflects the lives and times of generations. The age gap between the oldest and youngest members is twenty years, and all that history is reflected in the Pressure Point discography. An Oi band with a purpose, these Sacto street rock veterans continue to stick to their guns choosing to follow their hearts rather than fashion.

Aces And Eights

Aces & Eights, a four-piece from Boise, Idaho, got its beginnings in early 2002. Influenced early on by the great punk and Oi! bands of the late 1970’s, as well as contemporary bands who also drew on these influences, A & E’s sound reflected this love of these styles of music. The band released its first album not long after its inception and released its first full-length, Bad Deal, in 2005. The band made a name for itself as it toured throughout the western United States in support of this record, including sharing the stage with many notable bands from across the country.

In the years to follow, after numerous tours and line-up changes, A & E regrouped and recruited the line-up that comprises the band today: Matt Hunter, lead guitar and vocals; Josh Shockey, rhythm guitar; James Turner, bass; and Rene Ramirez, drums. It was in 2007-2008 that A & E moved in what could be considered a new direction with these new members as it began to develop its latest effort entitled A Different Animal… set for release in August 2009 by Sacramento-based The Downtown Academy Records.

While the influences of the earlier days were still apparent, it was also obvious that more traditional rock & roll styles were being employed in the band’s newly-minted sound. This coupling of hard rock & roll, inspired by bands like Motorhead, with punk, inspired by bands like The Clash, helped A & E cultivate their unique brand of street rock and roll that makes them so recognizable today.

Pullout

“Eagles & Vultures” is the highly anticipated album from Northern California’s newest hardcore punk outfit, Pullout. Featuring members of well-known punk band Monster Squad, Pullout puts a hardcore spin on the emerging Northern California music scene. Combining sounds of early 80’s punk rock, such as Black Flag or Void, mixed with the newer hardcore sounds of Fucked Up or Modern Life is War, the band has established itself as a presence in the punk community.

Bastards Choir

The Bastards Choir are Indiana's reigning Punk'n'Roll veterans charging out of the rural scene with guitar driven songs in the vein of other midwest legends such as the Replacements and the GC5. The group consists of 4 friends who, for better or worse, have played music together since early adolescence and to date have never attempted more than to keep the music loud, simple, and void of cliches (unsuccessfully). Though the band has encountered recent set backs such as marriage and childbirth, the Choir continues to hit the stages across the midwest and leave the bridges burnt exiting every new town.

Madhouse Disciples

Madhouse Disciples started in September of 03' in Sacramento Ca. Originally formed by three Traditional Skinheads, who all shared a deep appreciation and love for Oi! music. Being Traditional Skinheads, they all shared a strong anti-racist ideology and wanted to express this through the music while staying true to the roots of the Skinhead life style.

Small shows have always been a conduit for Oi!, Punk, and Hardcore. V.F.W. Halls, garages, backyards, school basements (Madhouse's first show was in the basement of Placer High) and dive bars provided an opportunity for Madhouse to get started. Turnouts were small but energy was strong and the message clear. Madhouse was on it's way.

After a year of tuning their sound Madhouse was ready to hit the studio. With 6 tracks, the band recorded a split, featuring Sacramento's Pressure Point, and was released on Downtown Academy Records. Over the years some changes were made in the original line up, in 05' Tony joined the band taking the spot of lead guitar, Dirty D on Bass, Mikey on Drums, and in 07 Brian/Vocals. In 08' they recorded there first full length produced by Mike Erickson and will also be put out on Downtown Academy Records.

On the new album they have stuck to the original musical influences from 50's & 60's Rock N Roll, R&B bands and the early punk and Oi! bands. Such as the Who, Rolling Stones,The Clash, the Kinks, Chuck Berry, the 4 Skins, Cock Sparrer, Blitz, the Bruisers and Pressure Point. On the lyrical side, the influences are taken from working class values, personal hardship and losses. They talk about everything from struggles in a lower class family dealing with drug addiction and violence and eventually overcoming those situations, to finding a new sense of belonging in ones self. The new album also has a lot of anthemic sing along style songs, solid gang vocals and full old Rock N Roll leads and solos.

Hanover Saints

Inspired by 70's and 80's punk, Hanover Saints goal is to play music with heart, soul and conviction. Their songs cover a wide variety of topics including family, community, friendship, loyalty, faith, human rights, working class ethics, and solidarity. Hanover Saints have always been a band "for the people, by the people."
